If you are in an accident, and you become disabled from the waist down, why wouldn't you get your legs amputated?
I was spending time with a handicapped guy the other day, and before we set out for a stroll down to the theatre, he asked me to keep an eye out to see if his feet came out of their little platforms on the chair.
Since the legs would essentially become dead weight, and sometimes a liability, why wouldn't you remove them? Not just for the safety aspect, but it'd also make you quite lighter, as well as improving circulation. The lowered weight and removed appendages would probably also make it easier to move yourself using only your arms, too.
The only drawback I could think of is that you'd have difficulty finding proper legwear, but I'm sure you could order a box of special shorts online, or something.
Anyone got an answer, or something to add?
