Barcelona School of Management, one of the best business schools in the city has presented the new MScM with specialization in Business Analytics for the next course that starts in September.

This new master in business analytics offers a complete program that brings the knowledge and skills necessary for students who want to deepen the analytical approach to business management.

The MSCM in Business Analytics is based on analysis, reflection and understanding, offering advanced analytical basis for business management.

The course, with a one-year program in English, consists of four core areas and one more of specialization. The main areas are dedicated to the analytical tools and business management. On the areas of specialization, students will be able to choose a course between Strategy, Operations Research or Marketing.

In addition, students will have a personal tutor and made ??a final project in order to ensure and implement all the knowledge acquired.

The MSc in Business Analytics does not require previous experience and is aimed at students with quantitative backgrounds and a first degree in engineering, science or social sciences. People from other areas, such as economic or related fields, or humanities graduates can also access the master. However, these students must demonstrate a minimum level in quantitative methods.

Pompeu Fabra University also offers brush-up courses before the master to provide the initial skills needed to start the course in the best condition.

Objectives

Programme

The programme consists of five core courses: three deal with analytical tools (Statistics, Management Accounting and Finance) and two with management theory (Marketing and Organisational Behaviour). Furthermore, students take 8 different electives in the field of business analytics such as Quantitative Methods in Management, Data Mining, Business Intelligence, Operations Management, Forecasting, Revenue Management, and Pricing among others. One of the optional courses is a practical experience of 3 to 6 months as a business analytics intern in a company.

Each student is assigned a tutor who provides them with guidance throughout the programme. Students carry out a Final Project during the last two trimesters, which consists in the identification and solution of a real business problem.

Teaching takes the form of lectures and seminars. Many of the seminars are based on practical cases, and most work is carried out as part of a group. Classes will be very interactive and include continuous assessment.
