Twitter co-founder Biz Stone suggests Facebook should offer a premium service where users pay to receive no ads
In a blog post on Medium, Biz Stone has offered an idea to Facebook to make money out of offering a premium service to the social networking site.
The idea is that users can pay $10 a month for which will get rid of adverts.
Stone admitted he had taken a break from Facebook after it "added thousands of settings, features, and choices."
Upon returning to the social networking site Stone suggests, "for $10 a month, people who really love Facebook (and can afford it), could see no ads. Maybe some special features too."
Reportedly this works out that if around 10% of Facebook users signed up for the premium service, revenue could total an astonishing $1bn a month.
Stone compared Facebook to Investor Relations company Pandora, who statistically boast a 114% growth rate year-over-year in subscription revenue from users paying to go ad-free.
Earlier this year, Facebook rolled out a charge for users to allow them to message celebrities or anyone ouside of their friend list.
The prices to contact people range depending on the number of followers they have.
Users could use their credit cards in order to pay for these messages but this option is limited to anyone over 18.

Just wanted to let you know I'm working on a Jamendo Android app. There are several reasons I'm doing this: 1. The teleca poland Android app crashes a lot on my tablet since I updated to a newer version of Android. 2. The official Android app is kinda limited, crashes every now and then and frankly, I don't like the visual style of it. Too Dark. 3. I need to create a project for my university, and I've just had an Android development course last semester.
Anyway. I'm doing it. You can't stop me. I'm not planning anything too fancy. It'll feature a radio player, a search with ordering options, and playlists (hopefully the ones from your online account).
The design is not final yet, but you are welcome to give suggestions. I'm especially open for name suggestions (not good at naming stuff). If there is interest here, I will keep you up to date about the progress. Hopefully I'll be done in about 2 month.
Here is a screenshot of the first prototype: (The prev/pause/next controls will be replaced with a stop button on the radio tab)
BEIJING -- Flooding in China this year has left at least 337 people dead and 213 missing, due mainly to unusually wet summer weather, the government said Sunday.
Floods this year have struck across 30 provinces and municipalities and affected more than 47 million people, according to the Office of State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters.
The headquarters said landslides have accounted for 202, or about 60 percent, of the confirmed deaths.
China saw an average of 165.4 millimeters (6.51 inches) of rain between June 1 and July 15. That was 5 percent more than usual and the most during that period in five years. Central China has been hardest hit, receiving 40.1 percent more rain than usual during that six-week period.
China's worst floods in recent history were in 1998, when 4,150 people died, most along the Yangtze River, China's mightiest.
The Three Gorges Dam, the world's largest hydropower project, was intended to control renewed flooding along the river. But water levels in the massive reservoir behind the dam stood at more than 149 meters (489 feet) on Sunday, 4 meters (13 feet) above the flood warning mark.
Shhhhhhhhh, Finland will hide behind the majority until the coast is clear.
It?s one of the reasons why I loathe Finnish (Nordic) politics, rarely if ever are they willing to go ?go rogue? unless its directly tied to the domestic front politics and they unwillingly take up a stiffer spine. Standing by themselves on principle alone?.I have yet to see it.

MOSCOW (AP) ? The Group of 20's finance ministers in Moscow say their countries consider strengthening economic growth and creating jobs to be top priorities.
In a communique after a meeting that ended Saturday, they note that although there are signs of stronger economies in the United States and Japan, the eurozone continues to suffer from recession and that economic growth in emerging markets is comparatively slow.
The ministers also said they were "mindful of the risks and unintended negative side effects of extended periods of monetary easing." They did not directly address the situation in the United States, where speculation that the Federal Reserve may soon wind down its monetary easing efforts has roiled markets.
The communique reiterated G-20 support for reforming the country quota system used by the International Monetary Fund.
